Making a difference, one community at a time...

EARTH university, located in Costa Rica, is a place where sustainable agriculture literally grows.

Its campus is filled with gardens, small farms, parcels of land, all with different strategies for organic and biodynamic farming, from all over the world.

The "Mandela" farm, designed for small plots of land, has a pond in the centre for fish farming, and is encircled by 9 rings, each with a different crop. The four interior ones for household consumption, and 4 outer ones for commercial purposes, and one outer ring for ornamental and protective purposes. Very cool.

EARTH University works with farmers nearby on capacity building to ensure not only their graduates (who come from worldwide), but farmers everywhere in Costa Rica can learn biodynamic and sustainable agriculture practices, that enhance and protect natural resources, for a better future.

Read more about an "Agro-ecotourism" association nearby, started by women, who now work to make their own home farms as diverse, dynamic and sustainable as possible.

No I didn't see green macaws! That would've been nice... have never seen them, only scarlet ones, 'only'

Loved my year at EARTH. A very eventful year with some very engaged people - from the staff and students. Such a beautiful place with so much biodiversity. Did you see green macaws??
