Making a difference, one community at a time...

Volunteer opportunities at our community reforestation project in Brazil!

I am super excited to report that our community reforestation project in Brazil will be the perfect place not only for short-term group volunteer opportunities but also for long-term individual volunteers as well. Volunteering on this project you will not only get a deeper understanding of the benefits of agroforestry, you'll also have the opportunity to experience life in rural Brazil as you're welcomed into the hearts and homes of the local people.

Fernanda & Paulo are an amazing young couple who spent 6 years living in the United States and who have now returned to beautiful Brazil to raise their two children on this gorgeous property in a big beautiful farm house. Volunteers will not only get the opportunity to know them and to try Paulo's world class Caipirinahs but will also be sharing the farm with their two kids Nicolas & Pietra, friendly little dogs Squeaky & George, Bolinha the cat and Tucu the Toucan.

Tucu the Toucan who took a liking to munching on my ponytail!

The farm itself is huge encompassing not only their home, farmland, and the Trees for the Future demonstration site but also a lake and sub-tropical forest.

This was my room. Definitely not your typical farmhouse!

Volunteers will help with preparing seeds, planting trees, researching species, collecting fruit & veg from the gardens, watering, weeding, cutting grass, trying out new agroforestry techniques etc

Volunteers will also participate with educational programs at local schools and head out with Fernanda to do site visits on the farms of people in surrounding communities

Free time activities include exploring the farm, hiking out to waterfalls, horseback riding, swimming, playing pool, fishing in the pond, taking Portuguese lessons, learning to make caipirinah's & how to milk a cow, lounging with cat/dogs/tucan/monkeys etc. Marilia is a university town which means you will also have access to movie theaters, restaurants, bars etc. And just 2 hrs away is Brotas known for rafting, scuba diving, waterfalls etc.

and you'll make wonderful friends along the way!
