This past weekend, our two new Planeterra interns joined me in the celebration for the 88th Anniversary party for Ccaccaccollo, our women's weaving community in the Sacred Valley of Peru. Earth Day in Cuzco a HUGE success!!
In celebration of EARTH DAY 33 people joined me on a 6K hike to raise awareness of Global Water Quality and to raise money to purchase water tanks in Kenya. Ending in the Llaquepata community we also distributed 1,500 kilos of food & supplies to 80 families who were affected by the recent floods.1500 kilos of rice, pasta, sugar & cooking oil which we divided into sacks for 80 familiesand then we put the gringos to work!We drove out to the Sacred Valley and hiked (some ran!!) 6km from…See More

Once we finished building our stove we trekked up the mountain to see how the rest of our group was doing. Their task was to help build a house.

On the second day of our community visit the whole group hiked down to the primary school where they spent the morning volunteering alongside the kids to help create a plant & vegetable garden

Next time you're thinking of a pedicure...think Volunteer Peru instead!!
Last week we had a group of 11 enthusiastic volunteers participate on our Project Peru tour. During their stay our volunteers befriend goats, helped to build a house, a Peruvian cooking stove & dug a garden at the school. It really is amazing what a difference only a few days can make!!

I will be bringing a suitcase full of warm clothes in all sizes with me. Hope they will help even a little. I will be in Cuzco from Sat. March 13th (evening) through to Tues. March 16th. I would love to have the opportunity to accompany you to the village and help in any way I can. I also look forward to meeting you. Is there a number I can reach you at on the Sat evening? We could make further arrangements at that time. Thanks so much for offerring to take me with you for a day. I am sure I will come away from the experience with eyes open and a very different understanding.
